Ron Cook, FAPR, RDR, CRR, CRC
Ron has been reporting since 1977, having passed the California CSR and the NCRA RPR. He ran his own freelance deposition agency in Los Angeles from 1980 to 1990 before relocating his young family to Seattle, Wash. In 1986 Ron passed the RMR and in 1992 he was one of nine reporters to pass the first-ever CRR. In 2013 he passed the RDR.
Ron has participated in numerous NCRA Realtime and Speed Contests, routinely placing in the top 10 in the Realtime Contest, with a gold medal in the Q&A portion of the 2012 contest with two errors. In the 2014 Speed Contest he placed third in the literary portion and 13th overall.
Ron was asked to participate on the NCRA TRAIN Task Force at its inception in 2012 and served on that task force through 2015. He was also selected as an NCRA Fellow of the Academy of Professional Reporters in 2014.
Ron lives in Redmond, Wash., with his lovely wife, Lisa, and they have six children and three grandchildren. They have two boys left at home, a 20-year-old and a 17-year-old, both heavily involved in baseball. However, rumor has it that there is light at the end of the tunnel!
