The demands of the job—whether in the courtroom, at depositions, or in other legal settings—can lead to significant mental and emotional stress. This presentation will provide practical strategies for court reporters to manage stress, maintain mental sharpness, and sustain long-term well-being while ensuring accuracy and professionalism in their work. Wendy Recktenwald, MS, CRPS, Certified Compassion Fatigue Vicarious Trauma Educator

Wendy Dresser-Recktenwald, MS, CRPS is also a Green Cross certified Compassion Fatigue Vicarious Trauma educator.  Wendy is retired Chief of Staff/Chief HR Officer from SUNY and is currently employed as the Executive Director of a large nonprofit organization in Western NY.  Wendy has been an adjunct instructor at several colleges and currently teaches in a OASAS certified credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor program.  Wendy has a long history of animal rescue/animal disasters and teaches for the New York State Animal Protection Federation offering Compassion Fatigue, Vicarious Trauma and Burnout support to animal shelter workers.  Wendy has trained across the United States for the CENAPS Corporation offering relapse prevention training to people who work with individuals recovering from substance use disorders and chronic and persistent mental illness.  Wendy has authored two books, one specifically for individuals recovering from substance use disorders.

Katie Recktenwald, Psy.D., NCSP

Dr. Katie Recktenwald holds a Doctoral Degree in School Psychology from Alfred University and is a NYS Licensed Psychologist and a Nationally Registered Health Service Psychologist. In Dr. Recktenwald’s private practice she sees clients with various concerns and ages for therapy and psychological assessments. In addition to her own clinical work she also supervises school psychology interns and social workers. Previously, Dr. Recktenwald has held several college-level teaching positions at the undergraduate and graduate level. She currently sits on the Executive Board of NYS School Psychologists. Dr. Recktenwald is a member of professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Organization of School Psychologists (NASP).
